Responsible to: Chief Executive

Starting salary: £134,086 per annum

Working Hours: This senior role is contracted at 35 hours per week, with no fixed working pattern. You’ll work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.

Contract details: 9-12 months fixed term. Full time. Hybrid working, some mandatory office days required.

Role Responsibility

In this role you will:

  • Provide strategic advice to elected leaders and senior officers on housing policy, investment, and delivery.
  • Lead the development of innovative models for housing and regeneration, including new financing and partnership approaches.
  • Work across sectors to shape compelling proposals and secure funding for major projects.
  • Make strategic connections across policy agendas, including housing, health, climate, economic development, and devolution.
  • Support deeper devolution and strengthen and reform London’s public sector systems through collaborative leadership.
  • Build lasting professional relationships that enable boroughs and partners to deliver better outcomes for Londoners.

This is a politically restricted post, under Section 2 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

The Ideal Candidate

 We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong track record in housing, regeneration, property and planning.
  • Is an innovative thinker, confident in challenging conventional approaches and exploring new ideas.
  • Brings experience in cross-sector collaboration, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Understands how to connect policy agendas and leverage them for strategic impact.
  • Can influence and advise senior stakeholders, including elected members and executive teams.
  • Is passionate about driving systemic change and improving lives through better housing and place-making.
